Well we met up with the rest of the crew after being unable to sneak in… Thalia and I did come up with an interesting timed explosion idea. We will keep it in mind for future distractions.
The other part of the crew seemed to be have a little more luck than we did getting invited into the trade meeting. Dumb luck if you ask me. Once inside we were able to attend the meeting, they traded for a shard! It appears I am not the only one that bears the title Shard Bearer.
Once back to the rooftop garden, I was able to trade Ziyad al-Murassa for his shard. I gave him a very nice handkerchief, as fair as a trade one could imagine.
I was able to combine to two pieces and made a slightly larger shard. I am now more Shard Bearer than before!
As I was finishing the trade with Ziyad al-Murassa we were set upon by demons. They came out of nowhere, swooping down from the sky. We fought valiantly and sadly, I was knocked unconscious and was unable to watch the glorious defeat. Luckily, Thalia made sure to secure my shard from the demons. I’ll have to get it back from her shortly.
The meeting went well. There didn’t seem to be any planned back stabbing, just a regular trade agreement for wine. Oh, I guess there was a minor inconvenience with demons appearing.
But of course the demons were no match for us. We are, after all, the best of the best. Some might say I tripped during the fight, but I knew that the weak demons were no match for us. So why would I, the most powerful, spend any energy fighting them.
Still it did not seem like the demons were there to disrupt the trade agreement, but rather it was shard related. How did they know? It was also interesting to learn that putting the two shards together causes the pieces to merge. There is something else going on with the shards. That is worth my time for further studies.

Poor Xander. His magical bubble has finally burst. I’m sure after this encounter he will realize that magic can’t solve all his problems. That he must grow now as a whole person, not an unbalanced slave to magical power. I’m looking forward to this change in him because change he must. Right?
Xander
I must return to my magical studies immediately. I have been to lax in my rigorous pursuit of magical excellence and this was a wake up call that I must redouble my efforts. On this day I commit myself anew to magic. I will be the greatest wizard in the world and definitively demonstrate how magic is superior to all other pursuits and can solve every problem.
Mortivara be praised. I know not what your will is, although I will continue to seek you guidance. These demons are powerful. Refusing to fall, even as we have no option to avoid their attacks (hmmmmm).
Goddess
Channel your quiet embrace through me
Guide me as I do your will
I offer myself to thee
Allow me the power to render my enemies still
Thalia had the shard, then the shard bearer.
Show me your will Martivara, I will do whatever it is you wish.
