8/22/25 – Game #5: Blessed Emissaries?

posted in: Chronicles of Solis | 4

The group gets rewarded and ventures forth across the Darijaani desert to the village of Kazahr, the most likely place to discover clues about the location of the tomb of King Arashir…

“When you reach Thulanda, enter by the western gate. They call it The Ember Arch. Pay the gate watch a silver coin wrapped in green ribbon. No words. Just that.”

She looked meaningfully at each of you….

“Once inside, make for the Sunken Steps in the Old Quarter. There’s a spice vendor named Yazeen who sells blue cardamom and bitter saffron. Ask him if the moon still rises red. If he answers ‘only when Solis blinks,’ follow him. He’ll get word to me.”

She then pulled the hood of her cloak over her head, her eyes narrowing.

“In Thulanda, suspicion is tradition. Secrets are the currency of breath. Don’t trust robes or rings. And whatever you do, don’t draw attention with light magic at night.”

She then nodded once, turned sharply, her guards falling in behind her. In moments, she vanished into the morning crowd of Rukhat.

Here’s a small map of the area where the party is currently operating:

Good weapon. Able to defend friends better with weapon and fight for Great Spirit.

Weapon very sharp. Not sure ever see that many heads go flying before. Makes big mess. It make Kragg sad to see so many choose not be friend. Me sad to have to….
Um…why so excited? Me sad but..not sad…me have to think and pray to Great Spirit. Ask for forgiveness. They not give Kragg choice but Taking Life should not make person feel….so….good.

    Journal Entry No. 05:

Apparently the individuals we are helping are quite wealthy. Not just wealthy but Raise Your Pinky while drinking wealthy. They gifted Kragg a beautiful sword and the rest of us 1000 gp each. After a brief shopping trip we began our journey through the desert with our new wagon.

Of course, when we made camp for the evening we were attacked by false priest of Solis. They summoned more of these devils. I am going to hazard a guess and say this is going to get tiresome rather quick. No witty banter, no exchange of words prior to a fight, like a true gentleman. Shame.

Once we arrived at the way station we had a few interesting encounters. We met a one fellow who had a really nice hat… it’s mine now.

Other than that we found a fella’ who says he has assisted a number of failed expeditions to located the tomb… This bodes well for us. I now have a lucky hat.

We are on our way to the next shard. This is for the greater good and will aid us in the battle to come against the rising evil. We are heroes and we will prevail in protecting this world.

At least that is what i keep telling myself. But my old bones are tired. I need a nice long nap in the sun.

Maybe at this village. The young ones can look for clues. They aren’t as bright as us so it will definitely take them a while, and I can rest in the meantime.

We are traveling further North and i am again without books to read. It would seem to me that some sort of device could be enchanted to contain multiple books, but still fit into one’s hand. Perhaps when we are in a town for more than a week I can create such an item.

On the road we encountered yet another group of supposed priests of Solis. This group was as murderous as the other and they turned out to be associated with devils. I’ve realized that though priests are capable of performing magical acts they are comparatively weak willed, needing to borrow their power from some other entity. Unsurprisingly there is a hierarchy of magic wielders with wizards at the top. We rely solely upon our own skill and intellectual while others need the intervention of chemicals, machines, gods, or nature.

Xander is such a that. Those boys were cute.
