Wiseguys – What you need to know before the first game…

Here are a few key things you need to know:

1. The year is 1992 and it has been 6 years since the verdicts came out in the Mafia Commission Trial. During that time, La Cosa Nostra has become largely decentralized.
2. The current state of La Cosa Nostra in Las Vegas consists of a revolving door of 10-20 men who formerly served as captains (also known as Capos) in the old era.
3. These Capos are very loosely allied with one another vs. “everyone else trying to seize money and power” and conflicts are rare. Each one now has a “family” of his own consisting of a number of soldiers and associates.
4. Giancarlo “Loony John” Moretti is a particularly ambitious Capo who has been very aggressive in the last few years. All of you work for him.
5. Some or all of you might have legitimate jobs and/or side hustles but the people in this group are the ones you work with to take big scores for the family.
6. You are all “associate” level in the hierarchy unless you take the Goodfella edge. This means you are not “made” and must follow orders from anyone in your family who is. Made men who aren’t captains are also known as “soldiers”.
7. You start the game with EDGE: Connections (Mafia)
8. You start the game with HINDRANCE: Obligation, Major (Serve the mafia)
9. You must kick up 50% of your earnings to your immediate superior.
10. You will get 2 XP for writing a back story.

In your back story, please answer these questions:

• What is your character’s racial makeup?
• Does your character have living family? If so, where do they live?
• Does your character have any skeletons in the closet?
• What are your character’s life goals or ambitions, if any?
• What is your character’s biggest fear?
• How long has your character been working for the family?
